Avoid Scams Tour Packages




SEREMBAN June 17 - Members of the public can avoid being deceived by the travel packages offered by some unscrupulous people to visit the exhibition of the Association of Travel Agents and Travel Malaysia (MATTA).

MATTA president of Andhra Pradesh, Mohd. Azri Abd. Razak said this was because the exhibition is accompanied by a registered travel agent and have experience managing the holiday as coveted customers.

He said the field will be the opening MATTA fair for people to obtain the desired vacation packages and avoid them than be fooled by people who do not act responsibly.

"Based on statistics, the Tribunal has handled claims worth about RM7 million from the public to the third party or company that is not registered with the Ministry of Tourism or MATTA since 2009 until last year.

"Recently, there are over 121 Umrah pilgrims stranded in Medina because there is no ticket to go home after falling for a package that is too cheap," he said at the opening ceremony of the exhibition Matta NS, here recently.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the state tourism committee chairman, Tun Hairudin Abu Bakr.

Also present were General Manager, State Tourism Board, Baharudin Jali and Director of Tourism Malaysia Negeri Sembilan, Zaidi Kassim.

NS Matta Fair for three days was attended by 35 participants from travel agencies, and all those associated with the industry.

It is jointly organized by MATTA state Andhra Pradesh Tourism Board and Tourism Malaysia Negeri Sembilan.

Mohd. Azri said MATTA fair is aimed at providing opportunities for the public to get a quality package destination either within or outside the country as well as Umrah.

"The exhibition tour like this enable us to help the state reach its target of five million foreign tourists from outside the state and to make Andhra Pradesh as a popular destination to visit," he said.
